🌀 WTF is "The Open Era"??

This is the big new theme. Any advantage or twist from any past season can show up at any time, in any order. Idols, advantages, twists from the old days… all back in the toolbox.

Probst keeps saying the season is about permanent uncertainty — players are supposed to stop assuming they know what's coming. He even compared it to Season 1, when nobody knew the rules yet.

He told the cast they have "the privilege and the responsibility" to launch the new era. No pressure lol.

And yes, season 51 is back to all brand-new players after the all-star S50.

EP 1 Firemaking stays
The castaways voted on whether to scrap the final-four firemaking challenge. Only 5 of 20 voted to scrap it, so it stays.
EP 1 The coin flip
The coin flip from Season 50 is now a permanent twist. A player who calls it right gets safety and adds $1 million to the prize. A player who calls it wrong is out, and the money rolls over to the next season. Nobody flipped in episode 1.
EP 1 Exile Island
The castaways had to send one player away before the game started. Lewis Kelly volunteered. On Exile he had one hour to chop down a mast and grab an idol from the top. He ran out of time. He was safe at the first Tribal Council.

Toka lost the first immunity challenge. The plan was to vote out Jenna until Patt tipped her off. Jenna told Brady that Aaliyah was targeting him, and Brady flipped the vote. Aaliyah and Jenna both played their Shots in the Dark, and both came up "Not safe." Only Devin and Jelly voted with Aaliyah.
